The Swan Inn
Midhurst is surounded by some of the best recreational shooting facilities in the country and with gun safes in each of their rooms, the Swan caters to visiting enthusiasts. They will also plan and organise shoots on request.

The Swan Inn is a 15th century coaching inn offering visitors to Midhurst comfortable bed & breakfast accommodation.
Tastfully decorated and furnished traditional Tudor oak beams and wonky floor boards meet vibrant colours in a warm and inviting environment.
From low ceilings to tall ceilings and four poster beds, there are rooms to suit all taste. All are en suite with flat screens, Amazon FireTv and Netflix.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Offering guests a simple ever changing menu showcasing fresh seafood and seasonal game with imagination and creative flavor combinations.

The village butchery
After an early morning breakfast at the Swan Inn and my introduction to what was claimed to be the perfect sausage, I went in search of these highly recommended artisan butchers.

They have a shop in the main street. Not difficult to find.

And I have been slowly trying out the various different varieties of sausages they offer. Some require a special order and others like the venison are only available as and when. But they are good enough to keep me going back over and over.
Their Midhurst Royal is a strongly flavoured, herby sausage which is particularly good. They also do a beef sausage with horseradish which I want to try again.

Michael Courtney Butchers are family butchers offering a wide variety of free range Beef, Pork, Lamb and Poultry all sourced within a 20 mile radius. During winter there is a selection of local game including Venison, Pheasant, Mallard and Partridge from the surrounding game shoots.

Their Deli counter holds an assortment of cooked meats including their own home cooked ham (roasted over night for maximum flavour) and a wide selection of cheeses, some local, as well as the traditional favourites you’d expect to find on any good cheese board.
There are home made pies, sausage rolls, quiches, scotch eggs and pork pies.

Alongside the meats and cheeses, they stock a variety of award winning products such as Chutneys, Jams, Sussex Honey, Stuffing Mixes and Gravy.
Wedding planners
Organising a wedding can be stressful. It’s bad enough if it’s all going to be home grown but it gets that much more complicated if one wants different.
A wedding in Midhurst.
Something a little bit special. But where to start?
There is the wedding venue to organise, a wedding dress, not to forget the bridesmaids. The wedding reception, a wedding photographer, the wedding caterers, the wedding car, accommodation for the wedding guests and the wedding invitations of course. The list goes on and on .
Wedding this, wedding that, to the point where everyone concerned begins to wish that the happy couple would simply take the money and elope. That or to hand all the arrangements over to a professional wedding planner.
West Sussex and particularly the South Downs, with its lush green fields and rolling countryside offers a range of stunning intimate wedding venues.
